*** Welcome to Little Forgotten Friends Rescue and Hospice

*Hello and welcome to Little Forgotten Friends Rescue and Hospice. My name is Maria LaRocca and I am the founder of this rescue and all that goes along with it. While reading this website, I will take you through all this rescues experiences both good and bad! You will meet the volunteers, our vets, our miracles, our losses and our adorable doggies. For all who know me it will not come as a surprise that I "hold NOTHING back".....I say whats on my mind and my words are the truth, not all will like my wording but my website speaks the reality of all that happens here, BAR NONE!....The focus of this rescue is to rehabilitate sick, old and injured dogs, then to place them in the best most suitable homes where they can finish out their lives with people who will love them till the end of their days, the unadoptable will be welcomed to finish out their lives here with dignity and love. Our dogs, are ALL VETTED to the best of our ability, the groomer is here EVERY WEEK, our dogs are NOT CAGED but are free to roam throughout their home here with me, they eat the BEST food available, they sleep on cushy beds and heated blankets, they are given the best possible treatment for whatever amount of time they are here. NO dog is put to sleep unless the dog is suffering, all are treated equally and all are loved by myself as well as the many volunteers here, who hug, kiss, play and take them to their homes for slumber parties! You will notice that this website is different then many other rescues, I have made it personalized showing you behind the scenes of the work that is done here, I will introduce you to my friends and family on various link pages, I have done this to make all potential adopters feel comfortable with me and so that you would know that when asking me a question you can believe you will get a truthful answer. When adopting from this rescue you will always have guidance from me from before the adoption and years after your new doggie has come home. We will soon be adding utube videos that will show you video coverage so that you can see for yourselves the work that is done here.....but for now, please enjoy our website and welcome to Little Forgotten Friends!!!

***Dr. Marty Goldstein @ Smith Ridge Veterinary Center***

**** Please Note: if you have a dog with any terminal illness that you have been unsuccessfull treating, I recommend that you contact Smith Ridge Veterinary Center for an appointment or phone consultation. This is the practice of Dr. Marty Goldstein DVM. This is a holistic practice that can bring hope to people who's dogs are losing the battle to liver failure, kidney failure, cancer and other horrifying diseases. Many of my own dogs who's stories are posted below now have a second chance at life after being treated by Smith Ridge. Expect a completely different experience when going to these holistic vets. They will speak of "proper" diet, they dont recommend annual vaccines and they dont recommend all the harmful chemicals that are being used today for ticks, fleas and mosquitos......going there is simply a pleasure, you will learn the TRUTH of how to properly care for your dog and you will often see miracles watching your sick, dying dog GET BETTER!!!! I have met many of the veterinarians there and they are simply WONDERFUL as are the techs, assistants and the entire staff. I have also had the priveledge to meet Dr. Marty Goldstein himself, I have been reading his book "The Nature of Animal healing" for years, it has been my rescue "bible" and has helped me in so many ways to help the dogs who have come through my rescue. Dr. Goldstein's book has taught me so many truths in the proper care for my dogs, I can never thank him enough for the knowledge he has given me. Dr. Marty can be heard live on Martha Stewarts radio show every Monday and Tuesday evening @ 8 pm on channel 112....Dr. Marty treats Martha Stewarts dogs as well as Steven Segal, Edward Burns, even Oprah Winfrey and many other celebrities as well!!! His holistic knowledge goes far beyond what one can imagine, I met Dr. Marty last week for the first time with my little Gizmo who is epileptic(her story is posted below) and told him how sick she had been as a puppy and that she still does get occassional seizures. Now that she is 1 year old, I asked what I should do in regard to vaccines, he grabbed a looseleaf binder and opened it up where he had the actual label to a vaccine bottle enlarged...it read..... DO NOT ADMINISTER TO SICK ANIMALS....it was that simple, Gizmo has epilepsy and giving a vaccine could make her situation WORSE!!!...HMMM, I wonder if a conventional vet would have agreed? In any case, he was a pleasure to meet and a wonderful person, did I mention an amazing vet! Going to his practice made me feel sane in an unsane world where vets in my past were continually jamming vaccines, science diet, heart guard and frontline down your throat. Where vets are more concerned with a "QUICK FIX" rather then figuring out the underlying problem and asking the question "WHY" did the dog get sick in the first place? I am very fortunate at this point in time to have the best of "both" worlds, my dogs see both a conventional vet as well as holistic vets, I trust them both whole heartedly. You must decide for yourself which vet to use according to the needs of the dog. For anybody who wants to venture into the world of holistic treatment for their dog or perhaps treat their terminally ill dog holistically, I strongly urge you to call Smith Ridge located in South Salem NY, if you live far from this area, you can do what is called a phone consultation. 914-533-6066....feel free to tell them that you have been referred by Maria LaRocca @ Little ForgottenFriends Rescue!!

*** 3 LEGGED HOPE GOES TO HER FOREVER HOME ***

I am posting Hopes adoption on my website in hope that it will inspire people to adopt a special needs dog. I am tired of all the excuses everybody makes for WHY they CANT take in a "broken" dog. Hope's new mom Lori flew in on a helicopter that she NEVER IN HER LIFE had the courage to board.....BUT....she got on JUST TO COME GET HOPE.....now, nobody can understand better then me the fear some of us have to fly never the less on a helicopter but, when we want something bad enough WE DO IT!!! and I give Lori alot of credit for getting up the nerve to go through with it. Lori SPECIFICALLY set out to get a special needs dog so that she can train them to do therapy work for disabled children, she is quite an extraordinary woman and therfore I wanted her to have an extraordinary dog. Hopes love for people is far beyond what one can ever imagine and I believe it was Gods ultimate plan for Hope to be an inspiration to children who so desperately need such a roll model. It was meant for her to be with Lori to have this work carried out. Hope came to my rescue with a broken leg beyond repair which required amputation, she also had an injured eye that was also far beyond repair and needed to be removed. Now Hope lives with 3 legs, 1 eye, the love of Lori's family and the mission to help others as disabled as herself. I am beyond grateful for Lori stumbling upon my website and coming such a long ways for a dog as wonderful as Hope........SO....NO MORE EXCUSES PEOPLE....please open your hearts to help my special needs babies, they deserve the same love as the cute little puppies!

. .

Hope is greeted by her new family Hope's new mom Lori is overwhelmed by this precious and loving little baby Lori's daughter Tristin finally gets a special needs pup to sleep with at night.
. . .

Hope is about to go home in her very own helicopter!! up,up and away goes Hope Hope in her new home with Tristan(Hope's wish already came true!)
. . .
UPDATE 10/07Hope is now giving the agility course "a go"....so much for special needs, this little girl can do ANYTHING! UPDATE 10/07 I think I can, I think I can!!!!! UPDATE 10/07 LET GO MOM.....I can do it myself!!

*** THE AMAZING STAFF AT LFFR***
Megan and Johnny Kailey and the LFFR babies Erica and the pooches
Megan and Gizmo Kailey and Johnny Erica and Louie love bug
Megan and Mac, our LFF love baby Kailey and Froggie Erica and Ruby our fainting pekingese...lol..

For many years I have been running this rescue alone, then I had 2 wonderful volunteers that are here weekly helping me on adoption day, the Koening family and Laura Stark. Then.......I knew the one more thing that I needed was a daily staff of people willing to dedicate their time. For me, I couldnt just have people to come here every day because they needed a job. It was VERY important to have a staff that LOVED to come to here because they were happy here, because they knew that being here made a difference in the life of the dogs in this rescue. My mother told me one day that if you have a job you LOVE, then you would never work a day in your lifeand I wanted the people that work here to live up to that saying. For the last 4 months I had been searching for the "perfect staff", I am happy to say that I have now done just that! I would like to introduce you to "my girls", Kailey, Megan and Erica............3 girls no older then 17 but with the ambition, capability and heart that makes this rescue a better place. These girl WORK HARD, I have trained them for several months and I am very proud of all of them. Their job is more difficult then most people can ever imagine, they medicate any where from 20-30 dogs, they change diapers, clean and most of all they know EVERY SINGLE DOG IN THIS RESCUE and they have become "in tune" with when they are not feeling well, or their personalities are "off" from the norm. They have learned over 40 medications and herbal supplements, they show up ON TIME or EARLY and they stay here playing and loving these dogs well after their shift is over. They call on their days off to "check in" on the sick babies and they think about these dogs on their days off, in fact, they even come here on their days off. These girls have learned ALOT in the short time they are here, I 'm not even sure that they realize how much they learned because they had fun learning it, they learned "team work" and that when one girl isnt feeling well that they need to back them up and help them, they have learned of miraculous moments of dogs that were dying but now they are well, they have also learned how to say "goodbye" to the little ones that were just to weak to survive but, most importantly they have learned the cruelty towards animals and that they can make a difference working here. I will be honest that I worked them all very hard cause I never wanted them to think for one minute that they COULDNT do it, cause I always believed that THEY COULD, they all could have gotten a "no brainer" job but, instead they all chose to work hard and learn caring for hospice dogs!!.....I am truly proud of my girls here, they far exceed what most 17 year olds are willing to do. Above are pics of the girls with the LFFR kids, please take notice to the love in the dogs eyes when they look at them as well as the love in the girls eyes when they hold them.......as the founder of this rescue, to me, it's PRICELESS!!!!!!

****A BIG THANK YOU TO DENISE BINET FOR THESE BEAUTIFUL MONTAGES***

*** BEFORE'S AND AFTER'S***

Here are some pictures that will show you what a little time and love can do for a dog. They all just need the chance to show you how beautiful they really are. Of course what your seeing is the cosmetics of rescue, what you dont see is the pain they have suffered with liver disease, kidney failure, cancer , abuse and other endless tragedies that need to be treated......but, most of all you cant see how broken their spirits are when they arrive here and the sadness in their eyes of not knowing what will happen to them next. I am posting these pictures because I want you to enter my world of rescue both good and bad, I want you to see and feel what I do through out every day of my life. Most of you only see the dogs when they are all "fixed up" and full of life....maybe you need to see the sorrow in rescue so that you can open your heart to a dog who needs a home filled with your love

. .

"Abbey" senior girl with mammary tumors, neurological damge, severe upper respiratory infections and ear infections, was given 2 weeks to live after arriving here. "Abbey"lived one year after arriving here, beating all the odds of what the vets predicted, she lived happily through the wonders of holistic medicine.
. .

"Brandy" emaciated when arriving here, her frail bones could hardly keep her standing. "Brandy" 4 months after being treated holistically, sadly she was still to weak to go on.
. .

"Dixie" emaciated when arriving here, matted so badly she couldnt put her foot down for months even after being groomed. "Dixie" clean, fresh and gaining weight, now off to her new home where she is doing wonderfully!.
. .

"Dorothy" covered in feces, in desperate need of grooming, only to find a large hernia once shaved "Dorothy" now a stunning little girl no longer with a hernia, now thriving in her new home .
. .

"Emma" senior girl, filthy and matted with a hugh hernia and cancer "Emma" clean, happy, hernia removed and now cancer free living her life with her new family
. .

"Fifi" senior girl, blind, extremely ill when arriving and filthy. "Fifi" happy to be clean, lived 4 wonderful months at LFFR before passing of heart disease.
. . .

"Wilbur" 16 year old senior boy, very frail and filthy when arriving. "Wilbur" gaining weight and looking brighter then ever! "Wilbur" on his last day with me before going to the bridge of old age
. .

"Wally" senior boy, under weight and lethargic "Wally" has now grown a beautiful coat with proper nutrition and diet, had all his rotted teeth extracted and now in the arms of his new mom on his adoption day.
. .
"Hope" her eye lids were deliberately slit not allowing her to ever close them after removing her eyes as well as her pain, hope clung on to life for one month before losing her fight.

*** GIZMO'S STORY***
a very sick and hairless Gizmo as a puppy another night of seizures takes alot out of this little girl when am I gonna get better momma? when am I gonna grow my hair back?
UPDATE: AUGUST 12, 2008 ~ Gizmo turns 2 years old, I look up, I look down and I cant believe the other pics were me as a puppy!! Look Mama, I'm a BIG girl now see, I just keep getting more and more pretty!!

I think I got bigger? yes? maybe if I chew this bone, I'll get stronger ahhhhh, the smell of ocean water, look I have fur now!

"The Story of Gizmo"........As many of you know, I am involved with rescuing many dogs from puppymills/auctions out of state. It was back in September when I received a call from my Missouri contact telling me she was at an auction and there was this teenie tiny puppy in horrible condition being auctioned and did I want her to bid on her to get the puppy away from the mills. Of course I said yes and a short time later the smallest litttle pup I had ever seen arrived. She weighed 1lb. 1 ounce and she was a little pekingese that was so sick I didnt know where to start to help her. She stayed in a large box that I made for her because her tiny size made her susceptible to many illnesses that could jeapordize her life. She was practically bald and was having seizures which I was sure was a hypoclycemic attack due to her small size. I slept with her leash tied around my neck so that if she seized I would wake up and be able to give her sugar and stop the attack. I also set my alarm and got up to feed her every 2-3 hours. When I brought her to the vet, there was'nt much that could be done for Gizmo because she was to small to draw blood and she would never have an attack when I would leave her at the vet so, it was rather difficult to diagnose what the problems were. I then decided to bring Gizmo to the holistic vet as I was certain her frail little body was in need of supplements so, after a visit to the vet, I came home with several different things to help Gizmo with.....After a few weeks, the attacks were getting worse and more frequent....sometimes there were 10 a day and I was panicing that I was going to lose this pup....She had gained about a pound with the aid of the supplements( I believe) and it was just enough to get some blood and run tests.... suprisingly the blood work was ok but what then is the problem?....It was after Christmas that I received a camcorder for a gift and the next time Gizmo had an attack, I video taped it and showed it to my vet....At that point my vet said it was not a hypoglycemic attack but instead epilepsy.....the only conventional med for epilepsy is pheno and she was to small and it was too risky to give to little Gizmo...so....back to the holistic vet.....they put Gizmo on several holistic remedies for epilepsy and I must say that she went from 5-10 seizures daily to maybe 3 seizures 5 times weekly.....a big improvement but for me, not good enough....I started reading on the internet desperate to find something to reduce the seizures even more.....I read that "enzymes" (antioxidants) really helped...so, I started Gizmo on those as well....I am so far thrilled with using this and at the risk of jinxing myself, she has yet to have a seizure in a week now.....you will notice in the pictures that I have posted the miraculous deed that holsitic medicine has done for Gizmo. If you notice she had very little hair and her eyes looked like they were ridden with illness.....now, Gizmo's hair has fully grown in and she weighs 5 lbs. 7 ounces at 6 months of age......the holisitc vet targeted improving her liver as well as her immune system....she is on MANY supplements that she will need to be on for life but, I am convinced that without the help of Dr. Marty Goldsteins holistic practice...there would be no Gizmo today....they have given this happy little puppy a chance at life. Still, I do take her EVERY WHERE I go, in fear that if she seized the force of her attack could snap her little neck or the thrust should she hit her head on something could kill her...The bond that I have developed with this little girl is far greater then I had anticipated....everyday that I woke and saw her staring at me, I considered it "a gift".....My purpose for sharing this story with you is to let you know that holistic medicine can truly save the lives of the animals we love...even when there sometimes is no "conventional" answer....If you would like to donate towards Gizmo's ongoing holistic care...please click the donate button.

***IN MEMORY OF CODY ****JUNE 24, 2007 Cody came to my rescue back in November of 2006, he was given a blood test that showed severe liver failure. Through holistic medicine, his failing liver problems were reversed and he was 100%, I was so happy to know that this little man was spared and would now have a chance to live a long healthy life. I was EXTREMELY bonded with Cody, he was just the most precious little chi, always sweet, never nasty and a heart bigger then his size. Last night at 4 am he started having difficulty breathing, within secoonds he was critical, it crept up so quick, I have never quite seen anything like it. I scooped him up and held him when he took his last breathe. I began giving him CPR as he lied limp in my arms when suddenly he began to breath again. I ran for my oxygen tank and put a mask over his face to help him( I do have these oxygen tanks for my senior and special need for times such as this).....I ran to my vet with him on my lap in the car, oxygen tank and all, I knocked on my vets door and woke this poor woman out of her bed to help my Cody. She took an xray and did an EKG.....none of the results looked good. His chest was filled with fluid from his failing heart so, she sedated him since he was so paniced from the difficulty he had breathing.....My vet was hoping that the lasix that she gave him would pull the fluid out of his chest. I left there at 6 am and stayed up for another 2 hours, thinking if I hadnt heard from my vet by that time with bad news that he might survive. I slept for 2 hours and got up to check my machine....Cody passed away 15 minutes after I had went to sleep. I am so torn from losing my little pillow munchkin, there is a hugh whole in my heart at this moment. Every day and night, I would put Cody on my kitchen counter and give him all the herbal supplements that helped his liver. He was such a good boy taking everything I forced down his throat to keep him healthy.....tonight when I gave the other babies here their meds, there was no Cody and I just felt so lost, he fought so hard through his failing liver but, then was taken from acute congestive heart failure at the age of 10......I want to thank everybody who donated to his cause and his medical care and for helping me give "a little more time" to a special needs little chi baby! UPDATE : April 14,2007 I have just gotten Cody's blood work done to reevaluate his holistic progress.....I would first like to thank all who have donated to help me afford Cody's holistic treatments. Because of everybody's generous support, I am happy to tell you that his blood values have tremendously improved. I am also happy to report that his grade 3 heart murmur NO LONGER EXISTS!!! I would assume that since treating his liver it has taken the strain off his heart...and THERE IN NO LONGER A MURMUR OF ANY KIND!!! I am so excited with his progress, he has gained weight and is such a happy little boy now. I will continue these treatments for the rest of Cody's life to ensure he remains healthy... Cody is 10 years old and his liver is failing. Weighing only 3.5 lbs. he will need extensive care from both our conventional vet as well as our holistic vet from Smith Ridge (the practice of Dr. Marty Goldstein) Please help us to keep Cody alive and able to have quality of life in his golden years. If you wish to donate, please contact Maria LaRocca at: puffer13@ frontiernet.net

*** MIKEY **** IN MEMORY OF*** UPDATE: AUGUST 2008....our sweet little Mikey has peacefully went to the bridge of old age, he lived to the ripe old age of EIGHTEEN!!!! He was 3 lbs of muscle, I have never seen a dog of his age batte 3 major illnesses and just KEPT ON GOING!!! this little guy will be dearly missed.............~Mikey will be staying with us here at LFFR as a hospice, he is a 16 year old long haired chi weighing only 3 lbs. and has kidney failure. We DESPERATELY need donations for his ongoing care. He will need to get fluids and both conventional medications and holistic supplements for the remainder of his life. We are trying to give him as many quality years as possible.....Wont you be so kind as to contribute to his medical care

*** MAJOR*** PLEASE DONATE TO THE ONGOING CARE OF MAJOR!! UPDATE: April 14,2007........THANK YOU ALL WHO HAVE DONATED TOWARDS MAJORS HOLISTICTREATMENT!!!!....I am thrilled to tell you all that I had his blood work done since he has been diagnosed with liver failure.....ALL HIS VALUES ARE BACK TO NORMAL....he no longer has liver failure thanks to the holistic treatment that has been provided for him. He has gained weight and is just the sweetest most gentle boy ever.....I will continue to keep him on the holistic treatments that have saved his life and I am so happy to know that he has been spared and will now have the opportunity to live a long and healthy life....I would like to again thank all of you who cared enough to donate towards his well being!!!!! Major is a 9 year old little chi who's liver is failing. He is getting care from our conventional vet as well as our holistic vet from the practice of Dr. Marty Goldstein. We desperately need donations to continue to help Major as well as his 3 other little friends who arrived with him who are also terminally ill.

*** MURPHY***PLEASE HELP US SAVE MURPHY AND GIVE HIM HOSPICE CARE!!! Murphy is a 9 year old 5 lb. yorkshire terrier who has kidney failure. His medical treatment is quite costly and he will need to be on meds and fluids for the rest of his life, we are desperately trying to raise funding for his ongoing care,

*** ***

*** Please DO NOT ask if these dogs are housetrained, they are from broken homes, puppymills, backyard breeders and shelters. I am a rescue and my focus is on the dogs health and well being, I am not a dog trainer. House breaking is YOUR job as the adopter, if you ARE NOT WILLING to work with your new dog then I would advise you adopt a gerbil. Please focus on the LOVE these dogs have to offer not the amount of paper towel you might need to buy. I dont adopt dogs to people who think their Persian carpet is more important then a living breathing soul that has had a hard enough life. *** ***

*** Please realize that an adoption fee is just the beginning of what it will cost you for your new dog. There will be the cost of supplies, vetting, food etc....if the adoption donation is going to be a financial strain, I URGE you to reconsider adopting a dog, the truth is that if you cant afford the pet you cant afford the vet!!!! ***

*** A STORY OF MARC AND BUSTER***

I wanted to share with all my friends in rescue a story of an owner surrender that has touched my heart in a way that I can not explain. I recieved a phone call from somebody in rescue in the state of Oregon, she claimed a man came to her asking if she would foster his dog for him being that she was the only rescue he had heard of that fed "raw food" to her dogs. She told him she rescues large breeds and his little Pekingese would'nt do well with her then, she remebered that I rescued seniors and special needs and I feed my dogs raw food and worked alot with holistic approaches, so she gave him my info to get in touch with me..... this is how we met!!! I was bewildered after speaking to him as to why he was giving up his dog, he obviously truly cared for him and was extremely concerned with his well being, that is why he wanted to place him in a home that fed raw food, his dog was allergic to commercial brands and all of the shelters and rescues refused to feed the dog raw. We must have spoken via phone for over an hour, he asked me MANY questions!! We continued to write each other through e-mail and he then decided that he would fly with his dog to my home, spend the afternoon at my house and then he would feel more comfortable for whether or not to leave his dog with me. Of course I was more than willing to allow him to do this for I respected him needing to know his dogs fate. He came to my home on a Saturday afternoon and we sat and spoke about what my plans would be for his dog Buster. Marc was 58 years old but did look somewhat older than his age, he was rather thin and a very mild well mannered man. Our discussions on the phone lead me to believe that he was an ill man and when we met, I was more confident that I was correct in my thinking. By the end of the afternoon, Marc was convinced that Buster would be safe in my home yet, still he didnt go back to Oregon, he stayed for a week with his relatives that lived in Long Island just in case Buster might be unhappy here. Buster did very well and he had a special way about him that made me instantly bond with him. Marc and I e-mailed each other constantly when he flew back home to Oregon. I sent him pictures and gave him updates on EVERYTHING that Buster was doing. He ALWAYS thanked me in his return letter, he knew I truly loved Buster and that made him feel that his dog was happy and safe. I never asked Marc how sick he was because I felt if he wanted me to know, he would have told me, I always beleived that one day when Marc was feeling better he would come back for Buster since he so desperately told me in his letters how broken he was without him. ..........Then one day about a month after having Buster, I received a phone call from Marcs sister saying that he's passed, she continued to tell me that Marc had taken his own life. I felt my body go numb as the tears poured down my face for this poor man who died so alone. She said her family was very angry with him when he told them that he gave me his dog, they asked why he would give me buster when he didnt even know me, his response was," I do know her, I connect with her and I know Buster will be safe". She proceeded to tell me that Marc went to a psychic who he trusted in and asked about me, the psychic told him to bring his dog to me in New York cause Buster would be safe here. The reason I am writing such a lengthy letter to you all is that I feel Marc's courage was extremely admirable. Here was a very ill man who was dying and his biggest concern was where his dog would be happiest, so he gets on a plane a dying man a flies to NY leaving behind what I am told was his only friend, then he goes back to Oregon and after waiting a month to make sure Buster was safe here takes his life and dies alone till somebody finally found him. My emotions were very mixed when this first happened, a part of me felt that I allowed him to take his life by caring for his dog , his dog was actually the only thing keeping him alive, he didnt take his life till he knew that his dog was cared for, I felt a man that had a heart to love a dog as Marc did, deserved to have a letter written about him. In rescue we see dog after dog that has been abused and thrown to the curb yet here was a man who probaly suffered many ill and painful days just for fear of what would happen to his dog. My bond to Buster is stronger than I can explain and till this day I still cry for this man who I harldy knew and now instead of feeling the guilt that I had firstly felt, I feel I allowed him to end his suffering and be in a place where he will never feel pain again and when the day ever comes that Buster should go to the bridge, I am certain that Marc will be there to bring him home again.... IN MEMORY OF MARC RUBINN!!! The pic is of Marc and Buster

RAISING CHILDREN WITH DOGS

Maria, my nieces Victoria and Valerie, Sparky, Booger, Peanut and Johnny
Victoria and Dillon Valerie and Johnny

One of the most frequently asked questions is if my rescue adopts to families with children, my answer to that is it DEPENDS on YOU and your CHILDREN. I recently had my 2 nieces over my house where I witnessed the beauty of how much love they had to offer my dogs and how thrilled both my nieces and my dogs were to be able to enjoy each other. However, this was not just a coincidence, my nieces were taught as babies how they were to treat dogs, they were told THEY MUST BE GENTLE because hurting a dog in any way WOULD NOT be tolerated !! It is up to YOU as the parent to teach your children how to act around dogs, any wrong doing is not the childs fault but instead the parents fault for not instilling how their child should treat their new pet. I am more than happy to place a dog in a family with children as I feel it is extremely important for a child to grow up with the happiness of loving a dog but, I ask the parents to please impress upon their children the IMPORTANCE of how to correctly handle these little furballs. I have adopted to many families with children and I am happy to say that the dogs are helping to raise these children to know what the "love of a dog" is all about . I want all my adopters to have as much joy watching their children grow with their new dog as much as I enjoyed watching all the love, hugs and kisses that my dogs received while my nieces were here visiting.

***DONATIONS NEEDED***
We primarily provide hospice for seniors and special needs dogs. We therefore have large vet bills and need assistance to care for the dogs we take in, the ones no one else will take due to age or health. To make a donation that goes towards their ongoing care please click the donate button
